Prom Postponement: Last week Maryland Governor Larry Hogan and State School Superintendent Karen Salmon announced that Maryland schools would remain closed through May 15 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to this, Maryland continues to operate with social distancing rules and limits regarding the size of group events.
Given this information, the Governor Thomas Johnson High School prom will not take place on May 8, as previously scheduled. We are not in a position to choose a new date or make revised plans regarding our prom because we do not yet know the end date for the current school closure or distancing expectations for the future. GTJHS will operate within the guidance we receive regarding the status of schools after May 15 and will make plans once that guidance is received.
We appreciate how challenging this time is for everyone and acknowledge the disappointment of our students, especially our seniors. Thank you to our students for being patient as we make the necessary adjustments.
AP Exams begin on May 11, 2020
