Greetings!
Next week will be the official start of the end of year testing season. AP students will take exams for the next two weeks and PARCC testing will begin the following week. If you have any questions about AP testing please reach out to your student’s teacher or Assistant Principal Aaron Phillips at Aaron.Phillips@fcps.org. If you have any questions PARCC testing please reach out to Assistant Principal Sheri Murphy at Sheri.Murphey@fcps.org.
Believe it or not seniors are almost through! The last day for seniors will be May 20th. The end of the school year is a very exciting time, particularly for seniors. The FHS prom will be next week on the 11th. Please encourage your students to make good decisions that will keep them safe. We want to see everyone walk across that stage on the 28th! Our learning lab is open until the end of the school year and is available to any student that needs a little extra help prepping for an exam or just needs a little more one-on-one time with a teacher.
The learning lab is also a great place for students to work on any reassessments that they have arranged with their teacher. As a school, we have said that if a student puts forth effort in class, and takes part in a mutually agreed upon “relearn” experience they may reassess on an exam (with the exception of end of course exams). Please know, that while we encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to relearn and prove mastery of a concept, if you as a parent do not feel that you want your child to take part in the reassessment procedure, please reach out to your child’s teachers and let them know. We will of course honor your request.
I hope you and your family have a great weekend!
David Franceschina, Ed.D.
Principal, FHS
