Important AP Exam Information - Spring 2024
This message is for students taking an AP exam (May 2024) & their parents:
General Information:
AP exams are scheduled from May 6-17 with a few students approved to take late exams on May 22 and May 23.
AP exams will be administered at either Frederick High School or at Trinity United Methodist Church (703 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701).
Students taking a morning exam should report to their testing location by 7:30 am.
Students taking an afternoon exam should report to their testing location by 11:30 am. Many afternoon exams extend beyond the normal school day so students will need to provide their own transportation home. Please note that if a student is taking a morning and afternoon exam on the same day, they will be able to make it to the second exam in time as they do not start until noon.

Kick-Off to AP Week - Review & Celebration:
On May 1st after school (2:20-4:15), we will have AP review sessions followed by a Kick-Off to AP Week Celebration (free admission). There will be pizza, sweet treats, and prizes to win. **If you need to take the 4:15 pm bus home, you must also sign-up for Learning Lab on May 1, 2024.
AP Computer Science Principles (Reminder):
Students must submit to Digital AP Portfolio the Personalized Project Reference and the other two performance task components as final by no later than April 30, 2024, 11:59 p.m. ET. See Personalized Project Reference Sheet for submission guidelines. Many students still need to submit their items. Please do so ASAP.

The Citizens Advisory Council
The Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) serves as a conduit to the Board of Education for public concerns, advice, and information. An email, CAC@fcps.org, has been established for community members, parents/guardians, students, and staff who wish to share concerns, topics of interest, and/or issues with the CAC. Topics raised in these communications will be discussed by the Council and then relayed to Board leadership.

Students are encouraged to report security concerns to a trusted adult (parent, teacher, administrator, School Resource Officer). Students may also anonymously report concerns using the Safe Schools Maryland Tip Line at 833-MD-B-SAFE.

The end of the year is quickly approaching! Remember students can join us for Learning Lab every day after school to get tutoring in specific content areas, work on assignments, make up tests and/or take reassessments, and prepare for end of the year assessments.
Be sure to sign up by 1:15 using our registration form, and remember, you can only sign up yourself! It is important to follow the correct procedures for attending the learning lab and accessing the 4:15 bus. We look forward to seeing you in the lab!

Some Important Dates for Seniors:
Prom will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 7-10 pm at the Clarion Inn FSK. Seniors must purchase a ticket.
Seniors last day will be on Friday, May 10, 2024.
Graduation Practices will be held on May 15, May 16, and May 17 from 8-11 am in the FHS Gym.
Graduation will be held on MONDAY, MAY 20, 2024 at 9 am. Doors will open at 8 am at Mount St. Mary's Knott Arena.
Any senior needing sign language interpreter services for their guests at graduation, please contact eva.celarie@fcps.org by April 10, 2024 so that appropriate arrangements can be made in advance of the ceremony.
Any senior who has NOT ordered a cap/gown for the graduation ceremony, go to jostens.com ASAP.

Picking your child up early from school? Hoping to make the process as quick as possible? We can help! When you know ahead of time that your child is leaving school early (for any reason), please send an email or a note with your child in the morning (please include their first and last name). This simple step helps us help you expedite their dismissal at the needed time.

Attention Seniors: All seniors are eligible to apply for the SGA Service Scholarship; you do not have to be a member of SGA. This scholarship is awarded to that senior who has demonstrated exemplary service at FHS and in the community. The winner will receive $1000 and another $1000 will go to the non-profit of the winner’s choice. Applications are available in Mrs. Strakonsky’s room, Ms. Pompe’s room, Student Services or online and are due by Wednesday, May 8.

Frederick High School: Spanish Honor Society Induction
The Frederick High School World Language Department is pleased to announce the induction of five exemplary students into the Spanish Honor Society: Olivia Gregory, Harriet Headland, Allyson Moreno, Ellis Smith and Elizabeth Yanes.
The Frederick High School Spanish Honor Society is a national organization dedicated to honoring student academic achievement, especially in the areas of Spanish language and culture. Students in this organization have earned a 3.5 GPA, or higher, in their Spanish courses, as well as a 3.0, or higher, overall GPA.
The Spanish Honor Society encourages students to continue their pursuit of excellence in the areas of Spanish language and culture. These members continue to use their Spanish language skills as peer tutors, or as volunteers in the school, or Frederick community.
We look forward to seeing all that our members will achieve in the coming years. Our sincerest congratulations to all!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is an all-volunteer 501(C)(3) non-profit that builds twin beds, and delivers them, FREE of CHARGE, to families in Frederick County, Maryland whose kids, ages 4-17, are sleeping on the floor, a couch, or with their parents or siblings.
Beds include NEW frames, mattresses, blankets, sheets, and pillows.
