News from Principal Frank Vetter
Car Drop-Off: Please remember that the only place parents may drop off students on campus is by entering the loop next to the old library. This summer a new loop will be created that will make accessing campus easier, but everyone needs to work together patiently until that time. Please remember that parents may not enter the campus from Maryland Avenue and drop off students in the rear faculty parking lot. This is a busy area and not appropriate for student drop off. Thank you for your cooperation.

We did it (again)! On Saturday, Frederick County held their County level MathCounts competition. WMS was represented by Lillanna Griffee, Ella Carr, Evan Brown, and Braiden Lim. Lillanna placed 13th overall, while Braiden placed 17th in the county out of 160+ participants! Even better… as a team, all 4 Mathletes qualified to go to the State level competition at John Hopkins University later in March. In fact, WMS came in 3rd place overall as a team in the County competition! This is the 11th year WMS has made it to the State level competition. Way to go, Lions!
Heart & Sole is Girls on the Run’s middle school program that meets the unique needs of girls in 6th-8th grade. The program considers the whole girl - body, brain, heart, spirit and social connection – in a positive, structured space where girls can learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy and strengthen connections. Running is incorporated into each lesson to encourage physical wellness and teach life skills such as team building, creating a support system, standing up for themselves and others and decision making. The girls prepare for a celebratory Girls on the Run 5K event at the end of the program. This non-competitive event fosters goal setting and a sense of confidence through accomplishment to last a lifetime. Visit www.gotrmidmd.org for more information or to register!!
