A Message from Dr. Terry Alban
Happy Fair Day!
Like so many who call Frederick County home, I was delighted to see The Great Frederick Fair return. From my office, you can see the multicolored ferris wheel towering over the fairgrounds. When you drive along Patrick Street, you see all the rides, attractions and food options at the midway in plain view. Generations of FCPS students have enjoyed the fair, and there’s so much to learn too. We are so proud in Frederick County of our agricultural roots. FCPS students once again exhibited their farm animals. Students involved in 4H served as wonderful ambassadors all week long. More than 1,000 fifth-grade students were able to visit the Fair as part of field trips, where they learned more about how honey gets made, how livestock is raised and how vital a role our farms play in the local economy. I appreciate the FCPS staff, volunteer chaperones, and numerous community volunteers who make a visit to the Fair so meaningful for our students! If you have not been able to visit the fair yet, it’s not too late! The fair is open through Saturday. FCPS schools closed 3 ½ hours early today. Hopefully that allowed many of you to visit. If you do drop by, be sure to say hello at our booth inside the Null Building, where students can write letters to their teachers. I can assure you that a cheerful letter from a student always makes a teacher smile! Have a great weekend!
