A Message from Dr. Terry Alban
Earlier today, I was honored to join the students and staff at Green Valley Elementary for the school’s 50th anniversary celebration.
This event, held outdoors, commemorated a significant milestone in the school’s history and it is important to reflect on how things have changed over those 50 years while still maintaining fundamental values to believe and achieve!.
Today, FCPS is home to more than 45,000 students! Over 44,000 students are attending in-person instruction and an additional 1,000 students are part of the new FCPS Blended Virtual Programs. Students are making connections and enjoying their beloved extracurricular activities.
We still navigate the impact of COVID in our schools and our community. We have heard from parents that the information on our Health Metrics Dashboard is important to provide clear metrics and data. Starting this week, we are doubling the updates to our Health Metrics Dashboard.
As a result, the dashboard will be updated on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon. When the dashboard is updated on Mondays, it will reflect student and staff positive COVID cases reported from the previous Wednesdays through Saturdays. The Wednesday updates will reflect student and staff cases reported from Sundays through Tuesdays.
FCPS.org has additional information about our response to the COVID-19 crisis, including:
We remain committed to partnering with our community throughout the 21-22 school year and look forward to celebrating the joyous moments that are happening at our schools daily, much like at Green Valley Elementary today.
Happy 50th anniversary to Green Valley Elementary!
