A Message from Dr. Terry Alban
In so many ways, this was a milestone week for Frederick County Public Schools:
All of these enrollment figures are unofficial. Official enrollment statistics will be available later this year. Regardless, we are thrilled to reach students wherever they are learning! Thank you to our dedicated staff for welcoming students back. You could feel the excitement building at Back to School Nights leading up to a first day filled with warm welcomes and supports for students from the moment they arrived.
I also want to thank families for your patience as we navigated new traffic patterns, new bus routes, and many new enrollments. Our FCPS family continues to grow and we appreciate your collaboration as we make necessary adjustments. Our school administrators will always be the best person to contact to respond to questions.
A few reminders during this transitionary time:
Face coverings are mandatory for students and staff inside school buildings and buses when students are present. If students do not have a face covering, they are provided one. This prevention strategy is supported by local, state and national health experts.
Quarantining of close contacts and contact tracing will remain part of our mitigation strategies against COVID-19 spread. We have shared more information online about contact tracing practices throughout FCPS in our Frequently Asked Questions posted online.
If students are asked to quarantine, they will still be able to access instructional materials on Schoology. Please contact your teacher or administrator for more specific information on how to keep your student engaged in learning during quarantine.
Let’s celebrate the return of students for the 2021-22 school year, and continue to work together to keep everyone healthy!
