A Message from Dr. Terry Alban
After nearly a year of diligent planning, we are just a few days away from a significant milestone in Frederick County. Next week, many students will be returning to school buildings as part of the Frederick County Public Schools hybrid learning model.
For some of our youngest learners, Tuesday, February 16, will be their first day in a classroom. Some of our sixth and ninth grade students will experience their first days in their new school buildings. We are confident in our hybrid learning plan, which also gives families the option of an all-virtual learning model.
Understandably, we have received many questions about hybrid learning logistics. Many of these questions were answered in detail by school principals at the Wednesday, February 10, Board of Education meeting. The discussion is worth your time and can be viewed online. Principals presented at the beginning of the meeting. Additionally, our website is updated with everything from face-covering guidance to community health metrics.
This learning model is new for everyone, and I am so proud of how diligently our staff have prepared for students returning. Thank you to our staff who shared their thoughts on the hybrid model implementation.
As we begin the next chapter in the pandemic story, we know there will be challenges and we will need to adapt. This has been our reality for nearly a year, and the perseverance of our staff, students and families has been remarkable. We will continue to move forward together. You won’t be able to see our smiles as we greet students from behind masks. But trust me: They will be there.
