Earlier this month, FCPS shared an updated plan for the implementation of a hybrid learning model for students. Currently, we will be moving forward with that plan.
This means school-based staff will be returning to buildings on Wednesday, January 27. Students are expected to return as part of an in-person hybrid model on Tuesday, February 16. To provide time for our instructional teams to transition to the hybrid model, Wednesday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 10, will be asynchronous learning days. An all-virtual model remains for families who choose this option.
While small group instruction will not be scheduled from January 27 to February 12, schools will be scheduling strategic orientation sessions for specific grade levels and programs. Please watch for more specific details from your school administrators.
We have been preparing for the hybrid model for a long time, and we look forward to welcoming students back to our schools. We are confident in our hybrid model, which follows all guidance from the Frederick County Health Department and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The mitigation strategies that we are implementing: facial coverings, social distancing, and frequent hand washing continue to be successful in limiting the spread of COVID-19. It is critically important that all staff and students adhere to these protocols.
We are excited to move to this next step in returning students to our school buildings!
