A Message from Dr. Terry Alban
Greetings, FCPS Community:
Together we have launched into our virtual learning model for the 2020-2021 school year. I am grateful to have such a caring, cooperative, and resilient community of dedicated students, families, teachers, support staff, administrators, and Board members. Though there will be challenges to overcome, I am confident the collective efforts of our educational community will result in continuing academic excellence for our students.
To keep our parents and community apprised of important FCPS news while we are in the virtual learning model phase, I will share updates every two weeks through this format. This newsletter will include messages, hot topics, reminders, resources and highlights in a condensed, easy-to-read format that allows readers to glance over essentials or dive into details. I trust you will find the messages, videos, links, and content informative and useful as we progress through this first semester. The classes are virtual, but the education is real. Welcome Back to School!
Please feel free to share your comments and recommendations via Superintendent@FCPS.org. I invite you to follow me via Twitter @FCPSMDSuper.

IMPORTANT Student Information Update! The Student Information Card FCPS sends home with each student the first day of school has moved online this year as the Returning Student Registration Form. Schools use the contact information parents provide anytime there is an emergency, question or concern. The email address parents provide creates the parent FindOutFirst account for essential school email messages. This year's form arrived via email from PowerSchool, with a weekly reminder email sent to parents who have not yet completed the form. All parents of returning students should complete the Returning Student Registration Form. When completed, school registrars update the student's record in eSchool. This, in turn, updates the parent's FOF email address. Parents who have not received the email from PowerSchool with the link to update student information for this school year should contact the school as soon as possible.
Checking Grades FCPS posts student grades to Schoology. For grades and many other essential school resources, please visit https://www.fcps.org/student-services/schoology. For help accessing Schoology, please contact the child's school.
Technology Status In the event that FCPS experiences a technology issue, we will post information at the top of the home page on www.fcps.org. We will also send FindOutFirst email and text messages and post notices to social media and on FCPS TV.
