Your child will be taking the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program for both Reading and Math. Testing will begin on April 15th and goes through May 3rd. Your child’s teacher will share a more specific schedule of testing dates and times.
For the Reading MCAP, students read literary and informational passages and engage in multi-media such as video or audio pieces. Students demonstrate their reading comprehension and literacy skills through responding to text-based questions and writing prompts. At the early grades, students also demonstrate their literacy skills through a variety of oral response methods.
For the Math MCAP, students are asked to demonstrate their understanding of mathematics by solving real-world problems, making sense of quantities and their relationships, and reasoning mathematically.
Let’s work together and make your child’s experience a positive and successful one! We’ve been preparing at school.
