PES Parents/Guardians,
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program for both Reading and Math. Testing will begin on April 16th and goes through May 7th, each session is approximately 70 minutes in ELA and 40 minutes in Math.
For the Reading MCAP, students read literary and informational passages and engage in multi-media such as video or audio pieces. Students demonstrate their reading comprehension and literacy skills through responding to text-based questions and writing prompts. At the early grades, students also demonstrate their literacy skills through a variety of oral response methods.
For the Math MCAP, students are asked to demonstrate their understanding of mathematics by solving real-world problems, making sense of quantities and their relationships, and reasoning mathematically.
Let's work together and make your child's experience a positive and successful one! We've been preparing at school.
Here are some suggestions you can do to help every day.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Ms. Krauss, PES Testing Coordinator.
