Greetings Valley Families! Teachers are eagerly planning for virtual instruction and we are all getting more excited by the minute to see you all in your virtual classroom! We have a few reminders about important events and an update to our VIRTUAL Back to School Night.
**HAPPENING TODAY**Schoology Support Sessions
Mrs.Prosnick and Ms. Souders are wonderful teachers at Valley Elementary and they are also serving as our Schoology Ambassadors! They have extensive training and a wealth of knowledge about how Schoology works and they would like to offer support sessions for families. Those optional sessions will be on Tuesday, August 25 from 1 PM - 2 PM and 7 PM - 8 PM as well as Thursday, August 27 from 1 PM - 2 PM and 7 PM - 8 PM. Before coming to the session, it would be helpful to view this presentation: Schoology Presentation for Families. If you would like to receive some basic information about how Schoology works and how you can support your child, or you have questions about that platform, these teachers are an excellent resource. Join the virtual meeting by clicking here on the day/time that is most convenient for you.
Virtual Back to School Night Update
We are hosting a virtual Back to School Night on Wednesday, August 26 from 5 PM until 6 PM. We will run two 30-minute sessions, one at 5:00 and one at 5:30. We will not be sending a video prior to the meeting. The presentation will be made available to families AFTER the event on Wednesday through Schoology. Please select the link that corresponds to your child's teacher in order to join the virtual meeting. If you are a family with an incoming PK student, individual virtual meetings will be scheduled soon.

Materials and Technology Distribution
Our staff members are working hard to create bags of learning materials that all students will need at home during virtual learning. We also have Chromebooks available for families who requested them to help their kids access virtual learning. We will have a drive-up distribution event on Friday, August 28 when you can come to the school in your car and pick up a bag of materials for your student and if you need it, a Chromebook as well. Please note that if you requested a hotspot, we plan to make them available as long as they arrive at the school in time for distribution. We will make alternative arrangements if they arrive late. We will be directing traffic from the main entrance on Jefferson Pike. The Horine Rd. exit will be closed to incoming traffic. We are asking that families adhere to remaining in your car and wearing a mask to ensure the safety of everyone. Please also adhere to the time(s) that correspond with your child's grade level in order to ensure that lines are short and wait times are minimal. We will have runners on hand to retrieve items for siblings if you choose to pick up for all children in the family at one time. Many teachers and other staff members will be helping with this distribution and would love to see you at this event!
The schedule for this distribution is as follows:
9:00-10:00 Grade 5
10:00-11:00 Grade 2
11:00-12:00 Grade 3
12:00-1:00 Grade 4
1:00-2:00 Grade 1
2:00-3:00 Grade PK/K
Looking forward to seeing all of you FRIDAY!!
Schedules and Schoology Login Information
We sent letters last week that contain the name of your child's teacher (if you did not pick it up on Monday) and a second mailing that contained their instructional schedule during virtual learning. These letters will also include login information for Schoology which is the learning platform that all teachers will use to deliver virtual instruction. For those of you who have students that attended an FCPS school last year, their passwords will be reset on Wednesday, August 26th and this letter will give them the new information. Be on the lookout for all of that information!
