Members of the HES Community -
Yesterday, Monday, September 19, HES concluded a week of safety drills that began on Monday, September 12. Yesterdaty, students and staff participated in an active assailant drill based on a protocol known as "Avoid, Deny and Defend" (ADD).
FCPS has communicated with students, families and community members about this protocol and the importance of preparing in the unlikely event that an active assailant(s) would enter the Hillcrest Elementary School facility. I am pleased to report to you that our students responded well during each of the drills that have been practiced. Students are encouraged to ask questions about the ADD protocol of teachers, counselor or administrators.
I want to commend the students and staff of Hillcrest Elementary School for the way that they actively participated in this drill scenarios over the past week.
