Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had a great week!
For kids in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, MCAP starts next week. That's the state assessment that students take that helps us know how well we're doing helping kids learn, and helps the middle school know how to get ready for kids when they leave the elementary school. We've been talking a lot about Effort and Excellence recently (Rockys!) and we're hoping kids are ready to demonstrate both of those when they begin working on that test next week. One great way to support kids and their success on an assessment like MCAP is to make sure they get a good night's sleep and that they eat a good breakfast, even if that breakfast is the school breakfast that kids have access to every day. The other thing you can do is to help encourage Effort and Excellence, even when questions are hard, and even if it feels boring ... because that test might feel like both of those things sometimes! We're feeling really excited to see kids show off the best they can do and to make MCAP a celebration of everything they have learned!
One schedule clarification. Schools will NOT be closed on April 13. We aren't sure how that incorrect day got out there but it is and we want to make sure that kids come to school on that day. The actual primary day, on which schools will be closed for students, is May 14. Thanks for your understanding, and I apologize about that incorrect date being out there because I know how important it is to plan ahead.
I hope everyone has had a happy and healthy Friday, and I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
