Virtual Learning Applications Open for 2023-24
Good news! Applications are now being accepted for the FCPS Remote Virtual Program for current students entering Grades 1-12 for the 2023-24 school year.
Please note a few important changes next year, including a new program name.
For two years, we have referred to our virtual learning option as the FCPS Blended Virtual Program. In 2023-24, we are switching to the FCPS Remote Virtual Program. This name change best reflects the learning taking place in the program and is consistent with virtual education terminology.
Next year, the current elementary and middle school programs will be combined into one program for students in Grades 1-8. It will provide the same courses and services that are currently available to students in those grades. The high school program will still be supervised by staff at the Frederick County Virtual School.
Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with enrollment offers to approved applicants in mid-February. The program will close to new applicants once student enrollment capacity has been reached.
High school student applications are due by Friday, February 3, 2023.
This will be the third year FCPS is offering a virtual option. It is designed for students who desire a full-time enrollment option with regular instruction provided remotely. The program follows the same 180-day FCPS academic calendar year approved by the Board of Education of Frederick County.
Why Consider the Remote Virtual Program?
Students enroll in the Remote Virtual Program for a variety of reasons. The most common reasons provided are:
