On Thursday, December 16, the threat of a planned shooting was made at Oakdale High School. School administrators, in conjunction with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and Frederick County Public Schools, investigated the threat. Through their investigation, FCPS and FCSO are confident there is no credible threat towards the school.
Despite resolving the situation, rumors regarding this threat persisted today via other students continuing to post the rumor on social media. School administrators and FCSO continued their investigation to identify the individuals involved in perpetuating the school threat.
FCPS and FCSO want to reassure the community that the agencies no longer believe there is an active threat but will have an increased presence at the school Friday, December 17.
We are calling for families to help. Here is how you can do that:
We also encourage everyone to review the FCPS policy for student responsible use of electronic devices.
Thank you for your cooperation and helping us keep everyone in our school buildings safe.
