Dear Monocacy Elementary School Families,
Frederick County Farm to School is excited that FCPS Food and Nutrition Services is serving LOCALLY GROWN SPAGHETTI SQUASH AT LUNCH TOMORROW, Wednesday October 2nd. Encourage your students to select spaghetti squash as their vegetable option at lunch and support Farm to School in Frederick County. We are thankful for our local farmer Rick Hood at Summer Creek Farm in Thurmont Maryland for partnering with the schools.
The taste test results were overwhelmingly positive! Nearly 70% of 3rd grade students at Monocacy Elementary School reported LIKING or LOVING the spaghetti squash served with marinara sauce. Spaghetti Squash is a winter squash and is closely related to the pumpkin. It has a nutty flavor, is loaded with nutrients and easy to prepare!
