To Lewistown Elementary second grade parents,
As we shared in a message to the schoolwide community today, a student threw a rock that shattered an outdoor window of a nearby classroom. No students were present inside the classroom at the time the rock was thrown. Nobody was injured.
The sound of crashing glass was heard in many school classrooms. This led to our school briefly being placed on secure status, which means students return to the inside of the building and conduct business as usual.
Destruction of school property is unacceptable behavior and can lead to significant disciplinary action.
Students in adjoining classrooms did hear the sound of crashing glass. And it did cause understandable concern for some of our students, particularly in nearby second grade classrooms.
Our second grade teacher made sure to address what happened and ensure that all students were safe.
We will continue checking in with our second grade students to make sure they have needed support.
Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Belinda Fockler,
Principal, Lewistown Elementary
