Important 5K and Spring Fest Information
Packet Pick-Up
Packet Pick-Up for 5K and for Spring Fest will be available Friday, June 7th from 4-5 pm in the New Market Elementary gym. You may also choose to pick up your packets for the 5K from 7-7:45 am on Saturday morning. Please note the 5K race begins at 8 am. Spring Fest packets will also be available for pick-up after the conclusion of the races!
Event Registration
If you have not yet registered for the 5K, you may do so on Friday, June 7th from 4-5 in the New Market Elementary gym. You may also register the morning of the race from 7-7:45 am. Please note, shirts will NOT be given out to those registering on Friday evening or Saturday morning until AFTER the 5K and 1 mile race on Saturday. We need to be sure that everyone who registered early receives their shirts. A limited number of extra shirts were ordered and will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis AFTER the two races finish on Saturday. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Awards
We will have a race clock and the 5K event will be timed. There will be medals for the overall male and female winners, as well as the top 2 finishers male and female for grades PreK-5, Middle School, High School and adult age categories. We are working with a new timing company who have offered to time our race out of the kindness of their hearts. Please be patient and understanding. Remember, this is an elementary school 5K, meant to be a fundraiser for our children. As adults, we lead by example. Mistakes can and may happen. Thank you in advance for being an outstanding role model for our children! All participants who registered early will receive a t-shirt and everyone who crosses the finish line will receive a beach ball!
Race Courses
The 5K course is the same as last year. We will have copies of the map available. The course will be marked and we will have pointers along the course. The 5K course offers a shoulder for runners, but traffic will still be on the road. Adults, we ask for your help in monitoring our children to keep everyone safe. The1 mile course will be slightly different this year. It will be important for runners to pay attention for directions. We will have a CAP officer available to help with the 5K course and directing traffic.
Refreshments/Hydration
The weather for Saturday looks beautiful but perhaps humid. Please plan to hydrate. We will have water, bananas and light refreshments available after the race. We hope everyone will stay to enjoy Spring Fest and all of the delicious yumminess available for purchase during this fun, family event!
Parking
Parking for our event is always tricky. The school parking lots for the both the elementary and middle school will be closed by 7:00 am. Please do not park in the lot at The Derby. If possible, arrange to walk or to carpool. We will open the parking lots for Spring Fest at the conclusion of the 5K and 1 mile races at approximately 10:00 am. Please plan accordingly and leave yourself extra time.
Sponsors
As you experience the fun of this coming Saturday, please make note of our many wonderful sponsors! We could not do this without their continued support! Our sponsors are featured on this year's race shirt and are identified on the NMES PTA web-page! Sponsors...thank you, thank you, thank you!
Have Fun
Our staff is very excited to have worked collaboratively with our PTA to combine The Cindy Alvarado On the Road Again 5K with Spring Fest! Understand that with new endeavors, come new learning experiences. This year offered a new online registration experience and many fun ways for our staff and PTA to collaborate. Unfortunately, things can and often do go wrong. Please know that many staff members and PTA officers have put in long hours to make this event possible for our community. We will do everything in our power to rectify any unforeseen issues as we encounter them. Again, remember, this event is about our children and about having fun!
We look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!
