Monday, April 8, we will experience a partial solar eclipse with maximum solar coverage at approximately 3:20 PM, 10 minutes before our dismissal at 3:30PM. Since the eclipse will occur around our school dismissal time, staff, students and families should practice eclipse safety while outdoors. Families will need to connect with their student(s) immediately upon dismissal and leave school property in a safe and expedited manner.
Students and staff who have solar eclipse glasses will be permitted to wear these as they exit the school building on Monday, April 8; solar eclipse glasses are not provided by Tuscarora Elementary School or Frederick County Public Schools. It is imperative that students and families understand the dangers of looking directly at the eclipse without the proper eye protection; as it could cause permanent damage to the eyes.
