Linganore High School will be hosting Color Guard Workshops for NMMS and WKMS students in grades 6-8 who would like to learn more about participating in the high school marching band color guard, as well as the Winterguard at LHS. The workshops are free, students may attend one or more workshops; there is no obligation and no experience necessary.
Students who participate in the Linganore High School Color Guard during marching band season earn a fine arts credit in Performing Arts, and enhance the marching band program by providing the visual elements of dance, flag and rifle work, and drill movement. The guard performs with the band at home football games, regional competitions and parades, and students are eligible to participate in the spring trips to New York City and Walt Disney World. The Winterguard is a separate extra-curricular color guard group that attends indoor competitions in the winter and early spring.
The Color Guard Workshops will be held on Saturdays - January 18, February 1, and February 15 - from Noon-1:30 pm. Students should dress like they would for a physical education class, wearing sneakers and comfortable clothing.
