UPDATED INFORMATION ON LHS HONOR SOCIETIES FOR 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR
Are you interested in applying for an LHS Honor Society? Please see information below regarding all the different honor societies at LHS.
RHO KAPPA (Social Studies Honor Society)
Dues
: $25 - New members only
Applicants
: Must be current sophomore, junior or senior
Application:

Application Deadline:

Qualifications for RK:
Completed a minimum of 4 Social Studies classes
Unweighted GPA in Social Studies Classes - 3.5 or highter
Unweighted overall GPA - 3.25 or higher
Students are expected to take 6 courses within Social Studies field
Minimum of 2 Social Studies AP courses as part of their 6 overall courses
Applicants must show participation in activities that demonstrate civic engagement in school or community.

MU ALPHA THETA (Math Honor Society) (MAT)
Dues: $25 - New members only
Applicants:
Must be a current junior or senior to apply.

Qualifications for MAT:
Unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher in Mathematics classes (Algebra 1 and above)
Unweighted overall GPA of 3.25 or higher
Must be currently enrolled in, or have completed 4 Math classes AND be enrolled to take a 5th Math class
THE FRENCH HONOR SOCIETY
Dues:
$15 (one-time dues)
Application Requirements:
Students must have completed French 3 and have an overall unweighted GPA of 3.5 or higher

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY (NHS)
Dues
: $15 paid through School CashOnline
Applicants:
Current juniors and seniors
Applications:
Applications will be available online through a Schoology course.
Eligible students should receive the code to join the Schoology course in the mail. These will be mailed the last week of September
Applications:
will be active on October 5th.
Advisors will host a virtual session on October 7th at 7pm to ask questions about the application process.
More information will follow.
Qualifications for NHS:
Students must have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Students must have excellent character, leadership and service to community and/or school.

NATIONAL BUSINESS HONOR SOCIETY (NBHS)
Dues
: $30 + $15 if you are a senior for graduation cords

: Available October 2 in Schoology with an access code.

Qualifications for NBHS
:
Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher & Business Courses GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Must have completed 2 Business courses & be enrolled in a 3rd Business course.
TRI-M MUSIC HONOR SOCIETY
Dues:
No dues. Seniors will pay $12 fee for graduation honor cord.
Applicants:
Music students who are sophomores and older, who have been enrolled in at least 3 semesters of Music classes at LHS.

Application deadline:
2 rounds of applications per year. First is due by November 15 & second is due by April 1.
Qualifications for Tri-M:
Overall unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Consistent participation in LHS ensembles.
2 teacher recommendations are required.
Additional consideration given to students who participate in the Solo and Ensemble Festival, music camps, county and state honor band/orchestra, university honor groups, and other community ensembles.

NATIONAL SCIENCE HONOR SOCIETY (NSHS)
Dues
: $30 + $15 for seniors for their graduation cords

: Must be a current junior or senior

Qualifications for NSHS:
Overall unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
Overall unweighted Science course GPA of 3.5 or higher
Must be taking at least one advanced Science course in 11th or 12 grade (Forensics, Anatomy & Physiology, CTC Science courses, AP Science courses)
9 hours of science-related community service during the 1st semester & maintain excellent academic & behavioral standing.

NATIONAL ART HONOR SOCIETY (NAHS)

No dues THIS YEAR ONLY - Seniors will pay $15 fee for the graduation honor cord
Applicants:
Current sophomores, juniors & seniors who have completed 2 Art classes and are enrolled in a 3rd Art class this year

NATIONAL TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY (NTHS)
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an honor society for outstanding career & technical students of workforce vocational education institutions in the U.S.A.
Qualifications for NTHS:
Overall unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
and
Student must be enrolled in a career/technical education program completer.
The NTHS is new to LHS this year, and as more information becomes available, it will be presented to the students.

SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY (SHS)

$10 yearly

Qualifications for SHS:
Cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.0 or higher
Completion of Spanish 4 with a grad of A or B.
Attendance at induction ceremony
Committment to being an active member by participating in tutoring sessions, meetings, national competitions (Albricias) and community events.
