A parent/guardian must pick up all medications in the health room by the end of the school day on June 7, 2022. To arrange for pick-up please contact School Health staff directly.
Non-emergency medication and expired medication of any kind remaining in the health room will be destroyed on: June 7, 2022 at the end of the school day unless alternate arrangements have been made directly with School Health staff.
If your student will be attending a summer program at their current school of enrollment and if medication must be administered during summer school hours, contact the health room for additional guidance.
PREPARING FOR THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR
Medication/Treatment Orders from your Health Care Provider
The medication/treatment authorization form(s) specific to your child's health/medication needs must be renewed at the beginning of each school year. Forms are available online at www.fcps.org or at your child's school.
Maryland regulation dictates that we determine expiration dates as follows: (1) one year from the dispensing date on the pharmacy label or, (2) the expiration date on the medication package, whichever comes first.
To ensure your child's medication/treatment needs are met at the start of the school year submit medications/supplies, and completed forms to the health room on or after Thursday, August 11, 2022. Please contact the health room in advance to ensure availability of School Health staff.
School health staff will review physician orders/medications. It is the parent/guardian responsibility to ensure that medications/orders are compliant with state regulation. Please do not send your child to school with medications. Per FCPS Reg 400-23, it is the parent/guardian responsibility to deliver physician orders/medications directly to School Health staff.

**Student's who are out of compliance with this requirement will be excluded from the start of the school year. In order for your child to be included in the start of the school year, the parent/ guardian will need to provide proof to the school/ health room that an appointment has been scheduled to obtain these vaccines. Any appointment made needs to be within 20 calendar days of the start of the school year.**
