Dear UMS Families,
UMS is currently in an outbreak status for Influenza. Students were reported absent or sent home due to illness with symptoms such as stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, sore throat, fever, and cold / flu like symptoms. UMS received confirmation of many positive reports of influenza and has been tracking them.
We appreciate you assisting us with this influenza outbreak by educating students on proper hand washing. We are taking extra measures within the school by extending cleaning of desktops, cafeteria tabletops, doorknobs, etc. While we are taking a number of measures to reduce the spread of illness at school, we ask that you and your child apply the same measures at home:
Please contact your healthcare provider if your child exhibits any of the above-listed symptoms. If your child is ill, please keep your child home from school for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea. Should your child have a fever, he/she must be fever free for 24 hours without taking fever reducing medications.
Thank you for your assistance, and please contact the school if you have any questions at 240-566-9600.
Sincerely,
Drew Kibler, Principal
