In collaboration with the Frederick County Health Department, the FCPS COVID-19 Return to Play Committee has finalized plans to provide structured small group in-person conditioning and skill-based practices for fall, spring and winter sports during designated first semester voluntary “practice seasons".

Guidelines: 2020 First Semester Voluntary Conditioning and Skill Based Practice Seasons

Fall Sports:

  • Dates: Monday, August 31, 2020 to Wednesday, September 23, 2020
    • Online Athletic Registration will open on Wednesday, August 19, 2020

Spring Sports:

  • Dates: Monday, September 28, 2020 to Wednesday, October 21, 2020
    • Online Athletic Registration will open on Wednesday, September 16, 2020

Winter Sports:

  • Dates: Monday, October 26, 2020 to Wednesday, November 18, 2020
    • Online Athletic Registration will open on Wednesday, October 14, 2020

All conditioning and small group skill-based practices are voluntary, open to all high school students, and will not factor into second semester team selection. Activities will be held outside and will be conducted in pods of 10-15 students while taking into consideration all COVID-19 Precautionary Measures.

In addition to Online Athletic Registration, students must turn in hard copies of an updated (April 1, 2020 or after) Sports Physical and the FCPS COVID-19 Parent-Student-Athlete Participation Acknowledgement Statement form to the coach or school’s Certified Athletic Trainer on the first day of the conditioning and skill-based practice season. There is no athletic participation fee for these first semester activities.

Interested students/parents should contact the head coach or athletic director after August 24th and prior to the start of the first semester conditioning and skill-based practice season to confirm their team’s specific practice dates/times.
