Dear Sabillasville Elementary Community:
Board of Education President Brad Young and FCPS Superintendent Dr. Terry Alban invite you to a community meeting at Sabillasville Elementary on Thursday, February 20 at 6 PM. The meeting is an informational session to share the Board’s policy and the process that will occur over the next 10-12 weeks regarding SES. Part of the process will include multiple opportunities for the community to give feedback about the school for the Board to consider before a decision is made about the future of the school.
Following the February 20 community meeting, the BOE will hear and discuss the Superintendent’s report and take public comment Wednesday, February 26 at the Board’s regular 6 PM meeting in the FCPS Central Office Board Room at 191 S. East Street, Frederick.
The BOE will hold a public hearing on the possibility of closing SES on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 PM in the FCPS Central Office Board Room.
At the Board’s regular 6 PM meeting Wednesday, March 25, at the FCPS Central Office Board Room, the BOE will vote to determine the future of SES. Again, the BOE will welcome public comment before the vote.
We encourage all families to attend the above-listed events to learn the process and share your views. Community engagement is essential. It is a strong value held by our Superintendent and BOE as they consider the best outcome for the students we all support.
FCPS also welcomes feedback via email to sesfeedback@fcps.org
Sincerely,
Daryl Boffman Executive Director FCPS Public Affairs Department
