Monday, March 27, 2017 Dear FCPS Families and Community: I am thankful today to report that the proactive measures we take at Frederick County Public Schools to keep our school communities safe places to learn and work continue to make a positive difference.
I commend our FCPS staff and in particular our Catoctin High School staff for their leadership that results in effective partnerships and open communication with families, students, staff and community members.
These partnerships, along with the excellent support our schools receive from our local law enforcement agencies, are essential in our ability to maintain safe environments where our students learn and achieve outstanding results every day. We are blessed that these efforts resulted in thwarting a potentially disastrous situation. We are thankful for the cooperation of the family, the school and law enforcement in preventing this.
Today Superintendent Alban released a video discussing the situation, which you may view at www.fcps.org. Sincerely, Brad W. Young, President Board of Education of Frederick County
