With the start of the 2022-23 school year just two weeks away, we wanted to share more details about commencement ceremony plans for the FCPS Class of 2023.
Once again this year, we are planning to host most graduation ceremonies at Mount St. Mary's University's Knott Arena in Emmitsburg. Also returning: Virtual learning days for high schools on days when they are holding commencement ceremonies.
Graduation Schedule
The commencement ceremony schedule for the Class of 2023 is as follows:
Graduation Day Schedule: Virtual Learning Day
All high schools will operate on a virtual learning day schedule. Assignments will be posted in Schoology and online synchronous support opportunities will be provided during the school day.
Students in the Academy for Fine Arts and NJROTC will attend virtually on Monday, May 22 (Gov. Thomas Johnson High graduation) but will not attend on the day of their home school's graduation commencement ceremony. Students would not attend the FCPS Career & Technology Center on the day of their home school's graduation.
In order to conduct a virtual learning day, schools will provide some online support opportunities during the school day. Teachers may work from home on these virtual learning days.
Week of May 22-26, 2023
Schools with a 9:30 a.m. graduation Schools: Frederick HS, Brunswick HS, Catoctin HS, Tuscarora HS, Oakdale HS Schedule: Modified day from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Staff supporting graduation ceremonies report to Mount St. Mary's at 8 a.m. to supervise graduates and prepare for the ceremony. Details: Teachers will communicate asynchronous assignments via Schoology. Teachers will also provide online support for students from 1-2:45 p.m. Students will participate in a virtual learning day by completing asynchronous assignments.
Schools with a 2 p.m. graduation Schools: Gov. Thomas Johnson HS, Middletown HS, Walkersville HS, Urbana HS Schedule: Modified day from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Staff supporting graduation ceremonies will report to Mount St. Mary's at noon to supervise graduates and prepare for the ceremony. Details: Teachers will communicate asynchronous assignments via Schoology. Teachers will provide online support for students from 8:30 a.m.-10:15 a.m. Students will log on between 8:30-10:15 a.m. to seek teacher support. Students will participate in a virtual learning day by completing asynchronous assignments.
Linganore High graduation Schedule: Modified day from 1:30-9 p.m. Staff supporting graduation ceremonies will report to Mount St. Mary's at 5 p.m. to supervise graduates and prepare for the ceremony. Details: Teachers will communicate asynchronous assignments via Schoology. Teachers will provide online support for students between 1:30-3:15 p.m. Students will log on between 1:30-3:15 p.m. to seek teacher support. Students will participate in a virtual learning day by completing asynchronous assignments.
