UMS Relay for Life Team Breaks Records
The UMS Relay for Life Club participated in it’s fourth Relay this year with record breaking numbers. Our students and staff raised a total of $14,897.01. This was an amazing feat considering our Country’s tough economic times. Our students truly learned the meaning of the phrase “Cancer doesn’t sleep so neither do we!” The rain came in right as opening ceremonies was starting at 5pm and it did not stop until about 6:30am. We even experienced a middle of the night evacuation to the barn when the lightning started at 2am. So, there was very little sleep to be had by all. All in all, the students had a great time. They participated in the fun laps, boxcar relay, the Ms. Relay contest and even a pick up game of hockey with the Bar-T owner.
Each student on the team was asked to set a goal of raising $100. Many students went above and beyond this request. Brothers Connor and Logan Haggerty raised a total of $1,130, Connor Wills $564.42, Nick Nobile $517.15, Zach Bohrer $452.34, Cheyanne Williams $439.55, Caitlyn Umberger $357.96, Trey Goodenow $315.45, Connor Queenan $289.89, Kailey Canaday $255.00, Cody Wilcox $243.87, Ellory Gipson $240.00, Brianna Gorman $209.92, Lisa Rose Shapiro $205.08, Kailee Unangst $204.86, Liz Twilley $204.70, Kate Barry $201.60 and Sam Drumheller $200.00.
Thank you to all of the staff and parents who stayed with us through the rain. We could have done it without you! And thank you to the Goodenow family who brought birthday cake to share with all of our students. And finally a huge thank you to Mr. Vetter who has always supported the crazy ideas our students and staff have come up with to raise money.
