UMS Carnival News
We are receiving wonderful donations! Thanks to the families that have sent their donations. Your donations are going to be used as prizes for games and raffles during the Carnival. These prizes are going to add more excitement and fun to the event.
What can you donate?
- Think recycle…. If you have gentle used plushies, games for teenagers, things that our teens will enjoy…
- Cheap party favors great for carnival games
- Gift cards
- Money – We will buy prizes. If a check make it for UMS Middle School and write UMS Carnival in the memo/note line.

April SECAC Meeting
The FCPS Special Education Citizens' Advisory Committee (SECAC) will hold its next regular monthly meeting on April 26th in the Media Center at Catoctin High School from 6-8pm. The public is encouraged to attend. Public comment is welcome and the agenda will be posted on www.fcps.org during the week prior to the meeting.
SECAC's purpose is to advise the Board of Education and the director of special education and psychological services on issues relevant to special education in FCPS. Each meeting always promises to be informative. Meetings are being held at different schools around the county to encourage community involvement.
EXTREME Journey Summer Camp
Two Urbana Middle Schools teachers, Mr. Hines and Mr. Adamiak have teamed up to be the counselors for a EXTREME Journey Summer Camp. The camp is sponsored by Frederick County Public Schools. It is an two week action packed camp in which only 22 incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are allowed to participate. Activities includes outdoor adventures (cycling, canoeing, hiking), technology (flip cameras, movie making, etc.) and is based on an historical perspective. Students will travel to Gettysburg, Catoctin Mountain Park, Charlottsville, Virginia and much more.
So, if you like adventure and history, this is the trip for you!
